Our Values

Our Values

As we expand our national portfolio, our sights remain set on developing sustainably, implementing health and wellness features within our spaces, and creating inclusive economic opportunities for underrepresented groups.

Building Toward a Healthier Future

Through environmental initiatives including rainwater harvesting, urban beekeeping, green roofscapes, energy-efficient lighting, alternative transit amenities, and sustainable waste management, our developments lead the way to a greener future. We are proud to have achieved LEED Certification at each of our ground-up developments to date.

Fostering Meaningful Conversation

In our ongoing efforts to engage M/WBEs in the construction and professional services communities, we co-host networking sessions that introduce our projects, outline package breakdowns, and share pre-bid and submittal instructions. We also maintain an advisory council for diversity and inclusion in order to provide a forum for stakeholders to monitor progress and communicate opportunities.

Caring for our Communities

Our philanthropic branch, SB Cares, has supported more than 150 organizations, donated more than $14M to nonprofits, and invested countless volunteer hours and in-kind contributions. We are proud to further the work of organizations such as Misericordia, The Chicago Food Depository, and Friends of the Chicago River.

Contribution Requests

We’re always interested in learning about new opportunities to invest in the communities where we work. Please complete the information on our Contribution Request form to tell us about your organization and work.
